Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of non-cash payment instruments on the money supply in Indonesia. The money supply used in this study is the money supply in the broad sense (M2). Non-cash payment instruments are represented by credit cards, debit cards, e-money, BI-RTGS, and SKNBI. This study uses time series data for the 2012 period: 01 - 2017: 12.The analytical model used is an econometric analysis tool Error Correction Model (ECM) error correction model. The analysis shows that the volume of credit card, debit card, e-money, BI-RTGS and SKNBI transactions simultaneously has a significant effect on the money supply in Indonesia. While the volume of transactions based on the results of credit cards, debit cards, e-money partially shows that credit card, debit card, e-money transactions have no significant effect on the money supply in Indonesia, while the volume of BI-RTGS transactions and SKNBI has a significant effect on the amount money supply in Indonesia.The results of short-term credit card analysis have a negative effect, debit cards have a positive effect, e-money has a negative effect, BI-RTGS has a positive effect, and the SKNBI has a positive influence on the money supply in Indonesia. While the results of long-term analysis of credit cards, debit cards, e-money, BI-RTGS, and SKNBI one previous period had a positive effect on the money supply in Indonesia.
